Important Posters For Important Causes
Here is a collection of some of my favorite posters that I've worked on for various contests. I'm proud of all these posters, and I feel like poster creation is at the core of getting better at design and making some meaningful change in how you work. Making posters that talk about real issues has led me to learn more about myself and my process.
Exploring Diversity In New Ways
This project entailed creating posters for the Poster Heroes contest in 2024. The focal point was the theme of "beautifully diverse." My approach aimed to capture diversity in various forms through imagery, typography, iconography, and color. My entry secured my place in the contest through the initial rounds.
Battling Addiction Through Design
I made these posters for the 6th Bolu International Poster Design Competition. This earned me a spot as one of the exhibited designers. For the first design, I wanted to display a more informational display of addiction because I feel not everyone is entirely informed, and this leads to misunderstanding and fear-mongering. For the other one, in the process of doing research on addiction, I watched a couple of TED talks from people who have been through it, and the common thread I noticed is that support is one of the most important parts of recovery.
Revolution Through Design
This project was for the Type Text 2025 Poster Contest, and the theme was revolution. The main challenge was how to tackle this. In the first one, I wanted to show off the idea that everyone has the capacity to cause change. I wanted to show this off by using that wiggly line to hint at DNA. The next one I wanted to use was a chant/song that was used through many movements, but especially the civil rights movement. Through the imagery, I wanted to hint at a tree with the hand, and water with the protestors on the bottom.
