Rapsinki Lab
This project was for a lab that's a part of Pittsburgh University. The lab specializes in lung bacteria and cells. Capturing something so specific that hasn’t been created by other designers was a task I was excited about. Something that came up was how to incorporate multiple ideas in one logo. Specifically, it was requested that I capture the separate ideas like: the bacteria he works with (Pseudomonas aeruginosa) which in the examples I was shown is generally rod-shaped, and has a habit of clumping together, airway epithelial cells (specifically ciliated cells) which are represented as cylindrical with hair like strands coming from the top, and the DNA helix. Incorporating all these ideas could influence the situations in which the logo could be used, but having them all in their separate squares gives you flexibility in how the different concepts could be used.
